The first Women In Business Lunch was held by the Chamber of Commerce, at Handpicked Hotels’ Ettington Park Hotel, attracted a large audience.
Our MD Gisela Pink shared her personal story, which impacted the audience, encouraging and inspiring them to make the most of their opportunities, even in the difficult moments. Gisela described how she grew up in Buenos Aires and started her own design business which she later sold before doing an MBA in New York. As she progressively grew in her career, she moved to London and then to the Cotswolds where she joined forces with her husband-to-be James Pink and then became MD of the IT, communications and technology business.
Gisela gave an insight into her personal life of being a mother and driving her leadership skills to her Karate classes. “I’m the MD of a technology business, but it’s a lot more than that. Understanding people and being human is so important”, she shared. “We all work differently and communicate in different ways. Each of us in the team has a different accountability, mine is to lead“.
Gisela was followed by Claire Golby, head of Public Affairs at Kagool, a Coventry-based data and analytics and ERP consultancy, who informed the audience about her journey from living in the shadow of Strangeways Prison in Salford and leaving school with 4 GCSEs to becoming a local councillor and landing the role with a global tech company. She described how she landed her job at the Job Centre and how a campaign to prevent the development of a road in her local community changed her life. She made a point in saying that her key inspiration for success was the strong support from her family.
We hope their stories help to inspire many people from all backgrounds to persevere with their hopes and dreams and continue to support each other.
