ransomRANSOMWARE: “a type of malicious software designed to block access to a computer system until a sum of money is paid”.

Businesses paid out over £12.5 million to ransomware criminals between April 2014 and June 2015 (when this sort of crime was just beginning to ramp up).

More recently, there were more than 6 million detected ransomware attacks in the last THREE MONTHS of 2015! You don’t need to be a genius to guess what this year’s figures will be…

HALF of all malicious emails are now ransomware attacks. A staggering 93% of phishing emails now contain encryption ransomware.

One of your staff, who don’t understand they are the targets of carefully crafted social engineering, only have to click the email and all your companies computers and server could be irreparably locked or permanently damaged, leaving ALL your business files encrypted.

You would then have three possible choices:

  1. You don’t pay the ransom and start your business all over again with no records, account details, customer records, billing information, access to the bank/suppliers/customers etc.
  2. Or, you pay the ransom (likely to be many thousands of pounds) and hope the criminals unlock the files.
  3. Or, more likely you pay, then find they brick your machines to cover their tracks, game over.

Choose!
